Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially differing from sportsbook odds which are set by professional oddsmakers. Sportsbooks may incorporate factors like public betting percentages and risk management into their lines, while this market relies on individuals forecasting the exact score. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially in events where there’s significant uncertainty or a perceived edge available to informed traders. Examining both can provide a more comprehensive view of potential outcomes.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each possible exact score. The price of each share reflects the probability of that outcome, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds continuously adjust to incorporate new information and changing perspectives on the match's likely result.
