Generally, prediction markets like Polymarket often reflect information and insights that differ from traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set odds based on their own models and aim to profit by balancing action on all sides, while this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd. This can lead to discrepancies, especially when there's strong public sentiment or inside information not yet reflected in sportsbook lines. It's common to see prediction market probabilities diverge from sportsbook implied probabilities, particularly as new information emerges closer to the event.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing different exact scores, and the price of each share reflects the market's collective belief about the probability of that score occurring. As more shares are traded, the prices adjust to reflect the changing sentiment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket, and isn't influenced by external factors or other prediction markets. The current top outcome has a chance percentage of 50.0%.
