Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, influencing the implied probabilities. This market, driven by the collective wisdom of traders on Polymarket, aims to represent a more accurate assessment of probabilities, free from such built-in margins. However, it’s common to see initial discrepancies, especially before significant trading volume accumulates. These differences can stem from varying information sources and differing levels of expertise among bettors and market participants.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether Atalanta or Venezia will score first in the first half. As more shares are traded for one outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds constantly adjust to incorporate new information and changing sentiment.

This market resolves around Oct 12, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team, Atalanta or Venezia, scores the first goal during the first half of the match. Any goals scored during extra time or a penalty shootout will not be considered. The official match records will serve as the definitive source for determining the winning outcome of this market, ensuring a transparent and verifiable resolution process.

Several factors could influence trading activity and shift the odds in this market. Late-breaking news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either Atalanta or Venezia would likely have a significant impact. Changes in team formations or tactical approaches announced before the match could also affect trader sentiment. Furthermore, any updates on weather conditions or pitch quality might be considered. Finally, even general shifts in public perception or expert analysis regarding the teams’ relative strengths could drive trading volume and alter the probabilities reflected in this market.
