Revisions to officially declared final scores made after market resolution will not be accounted for in determining the outcome. Generally, prediction markets like Polymarket often reflect information and insights not immediately captured by traditional sportsbooks. While sportsbooks set initial odds based on statistical models and expert opinions, this market incorporates a broader range of factors as traders buy and sell positions, effectively crowdsourcing a probability assessment. You may find that the implied probabilities on Polymarket differ from those offered by sportsbooks, especially as new information emerges closer to the event. These differences can present opportunities for informed traders who believe the market has mispriced the outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders deposit funds and buy or sell shares representing their belief in the probability of a specific exact score. As more shares are traded, the price of each share adjusts to reflect the collective sentiment of the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This means the price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome being correct. Higher demand for shares in a particular exact score will drive up its price, indicating a greater perceived likelihood of that result.
This market resolves around Oct 24, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final result of the Aston Villa vs. Manchester City match is verifiable from credible public reporting. The exact score at the end of regulation time will be used to determine the winning outcome. Any extra time or penalty shootouts will not be considered for resolution purposes. Traders holding shares in the correct exact score will receive a payout based on the final market price at resolution, while those holding shares in incorrect outcomes will forfeit their investment.
Several factors could significantly influence this market before Oct 24, 2026. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Aston Villa or Manchester City would likely cause shifts in the odds. Unexpected changes in team formations or tactical approaches announced by the managers could also impact trader sentiment. Furthermore, real-time updates during the match itself, such as early goals or red cards, would undoubtedly lead to substantial price movements. Even broader factors like weather conditions on match day could play a role in how traders assess the probabilities.
