Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market allows anyone to trade based on their own insights. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook has mispriced the probability of a particular outcome, they can express that view by trading on Polymarket. This can lead to prediction market odds diverging from sportsbook lines, potentially offering value to informed traders. It’s common to see prediction markets more accurately forecast event outcomes than traditional methods.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether AS Monaco or Lille will score first in the first half. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of each outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the event’s likelihood. The market’s liquidity, indicated by the trading volume, also influences price discovery. Higher volume generally leads to more accurate pricing, as it incorporates a wider range of opinions.

This market resolves around Oct 25, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the market will determine which team, AS Monaco or Lille, scored the first goal during the first half of the match. The result will be based on official match data and verified against credible public sources. The platform will then finalize the market, distributing payouts to traders who correctly predicted the outcome. This ensures a transparent and reliable resolution process for all participants.

Several factors could influence trading activity and shift the odds in this market. Late-breaking news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either AS Monaco or Lille would likely have a significant impact. Changes in team form, such as a recent winning streak or a string of losses, could also affect trader sentiment. Even weather conditions on match day could play a role, potentially favoring one team’s style of play over the other. Unexpected announcements related to team tactics or starting lineups could also trigger movement in this market as traders react to new information.
