In the football contest between the two teams, the first team to score a touchdown determines the outcome. A separate market exists for the scenario where neither team scores a touchdown during the entire game.
The first two markets resolve if the specified team's defense/special teams scores the first touchdown of the game. If the unit is active but never takes a snap, the market settles at the pre-game fair price. Once a snap is taken—even if nullified by penalty—the market settles based on whether that unit scores the first touchdown. The third market resolves if no touchdowns are scored in the game, in which case the 'No Touchdown' market resolves to Yes and all other player markets resolve to No. Touchdowns scored on fake punts or field goals by the offensive team do not count as special teams touchdowns. Generally, prediction market odds tend to reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often proving more accurate than initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set their odds to attract balanced betting and build in a profit margin, whereas this market allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the probability of each player scoring first. While sportsbook odds are readily available, they may not always fully incorporate all available information or react as quickly to new developments as the dynamic pricing seen in this market. It’s common to see prediction markets outperform traditional sportsbooks over time.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different players. The price of each contract reflects the perceived probability of that player scoring the first touchdown. As more people buy a contract, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market depth and trading activity determine the current odds, and traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions, as profitable traders are rewarded. This creates a dynamic and efficient price discovery mechanism.
This market resolves around Oct 19, 2026, once the outcome of the Arizona versus Los Angeles game is definitively known. The outcome will be determined by which player officially scores the first touchdown, as verified against credible public reporting of the game results. The official game statistics will serve as the basis for confirming the winning contract in this market. It’s important to note that any scoring plays subject to review or reversal will be considered in the final determination of the outcome.
Several factors could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in team strategy, or even weather conditions could shift trader sentiment and alter the odds. A key player being ruled out would likely cause a substantial movement in the market, as would any reports suggesting a change in the offensive game plan. Unexpected news about a player’s health or playing time, even shortly before the game, could also lead to significant price fluctuations within this market.
