Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set odds based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs, potentially leading to more accurate probabilities as new information emerges. While sportsbooks may adjust their lines based on betting patterns, prediction markets continuously update based on every trade, offering a dynamic comparison point to traditional odds.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book, where traders buy and sell contracts representing the probability of each outcome. The price of a contract directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy contracts for a particular team, the price increases, reflecting a higher perceived chance of victory. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market depth and trading activity influence the bid-ask spread, providing insights into the liquidity and confidence surrounding each possible result. Currently, the most likely outcome, according to Kalshi, is a 2nd quarter tie.
This market resolves around Oct 31, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The team that is leading at the end of the second quarter of the Arizona St vs BYU game will be declared the winner of this market. The official game results, as reported by a trusted sports data provider, will serve as the basis for determining the winning outcome. Several factors could influence the price movement of this market. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in coaching strategy, or even weather conditions could impact perceived probabilities. Unexpected performance in the first quarter of the game will likely cause significant shifts in the odds. Public sentiment, as reflected in social media and sports news, can also play a role, though the market is primarily driven by actual trading activity on Kalshi. Major upsets in other games featuring these teams could also indirectly affect this market’s pricing.
