This set of markets tracks the total points scored by both Arizona State and BYU in the first quarter of their college football game scheduled for October 31, 2026. Each market corresponds to a different threshold of points, determining whether the combined score exceeds that threshold.
The markets resolve based on the combined points scored by both teams during the first quarter of the Arizona St. vs BYU college football game scheduled for October 31, 2026. Each market has a specific threshold (ranging from 2.5 to 27.5 points); if the total points exceed the threshold, the market resolves to Yes. Postponements are accounted for: if the game starts within 48 hours of the original time, it resolves based on the actual result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, the market resolves to a fair price. Only points from the first quarter count, and Kalshi disclaims any official affiliation with the NCAA.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set their odds based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. As more information becomes available – such as injury reports or weather forecasts – and as the event approaches, the odds on Kalshi may converge with or diverge from those offered by sportsbooks. It's common to see prediction markets offer more accurate probabilities, especially closer to the event, as they incorporate a wider range of perspectives.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts. The price of a contract represents the probability of the corresponding outcome occurring. For example, a contract priced at 60 means there’s a 60% implied probability of that outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are constantly adjusting their bids and asks based on new information and their own analysis, leading to dynamic price fluctuations. The market efficiently reflects the collective sentiment of those participating, providing a real-time assessment of the potential for a high or low-scoring first quarter.
This market resolves around Oct 31, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final score of the first quarter between Arizona St. and BYU will be used to determine whether the total points scored exceeded 5.5 or not. The resolution will be based on official game statistics, ensuring a transparent and objective outcome. Traders holding contracts on the correct side will receive a payout, while those on the incorrect side will forfeit their stake.
Several factors could significantly influence this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Arizona St. or BYU would likely cause price movement. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they are expected to affect the passing or running game, could also impact the market. Unexpected announcements about coaching strategies or team lineups could also lead to shifts in trader sentiment. Finally, public perception and any late-breaking analysis from sports commentators could contribute to price fluctuations in this market before Oct 31, 2026.
