This market focuses on predicting the outcome of the first quarter in an upcoming college football game between Arizona State and BYU. Specifically, it evaluates whether either team will achieve a significant lead within the first 15 minutes of play.
The markets resolve based on the point differential in the first quarter of the Arizona St. vs BYU college football game scheduled for Oct 31, 2026. A 'Yes' outcome occurs if BYU wins by more than 2.5, 3.5, 6.5, 7.5, or 10.5 points, or if Arizona St. wins by more than 2.5, 3.5, 6.5, 7.5, or 10.5 points during that period. Only points scored in the first quarter count. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the market remains open and resolves based on the actual result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, the market resolves to a fair price. Kalshi is not affiliated with the NCAA, and all trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Often, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to account for profit margins, whereas this market is driven purely by traders’ willingness to buy or sell. If a significant discrepancy exists between this market and sportsbook lines, opportunities for arbitrage may arise, attracting traders who aim to profit from the difference. It's common to see prediction markets move more quickly to incorporate new information than traditional sportsbooks.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous double auction, meaning traders set the odds by placing buy and sell orders. The price of a 'yes' contract (BYU wins 1Q by over 3.5 points) reflects the probability of that outcome as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe BYU will cover the spread, the higher the price of the 'yes' contract will climb. Conversely, if traders favor Arizona St., the price will decrease. This dynamic pricing mechanism ensures the market reflects the collective intelligence of those trading it.
This market resolves around Oct 31, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the final point spread of the first quarter of the Arizona St. vs BYU game will be used to determine whether BYU wins by over 3.5 points, as defined by this market. The resolution will be based on official game statistics and will be publicly available following the conclusion of the first quarter. Traders will then be paid out based on their positions in this market.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before the game concludes. News regarding key player injuries for either Arizona St. or BYU would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they are expected to affect the passing or running game, could also shift trader sentiment. Additionally, any late-breaking news about team strategy or coaching decisions might move the market. Finally, large volume trades from informed participants could also cause noticeable price fluctuations in this market.
