Prediction market odds often offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. While sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and profit margins, this market reflects the wisdom of the crowd. Discrepancies can arise from differing information, biases, or simply a different assessment of probabilities. If you find a significant difference between the odds here and those offered by sportsbooks, it could indicate an opportunity for value betting, assuming you have a strong conviction about the true probability of an outcome. It’s important to consider all available information when making your predictions.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price will fluctuate, providing a dynamic assessment of the event’s potential results. The current price indicates the collective prediction of those trading on Polymarket.
