This set of markets tracks how many points each team will score in an upcoming college football game. Each market corresponds to a specific point threshold, and the outcome depends on whether the team's actual score exceeds that threshold.
All markets resolve based on the official final point totals of Appalachian State and Georgia Southern in their college football game scheduled for October 31, 2026. For each market, if the specified team scores more than the stated point threshold, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of the original start time, the markets remain open and resolve according to the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of the scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring impartial treatment under unforeseen circumstances.
Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, and can sometimes differ from those offered by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines based on statistical models and the goal of balancing action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. If a significant number of traders believe the sportsbook odds are inaccurate, they can drive the price of contracts in this market to reflect their view. It's common to see discrepancies, especially as new information becomes available or public sentiment shifts.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where buyers and sellers set the price of contracts. Each contract represents a potential outcome – in this case, a specific team total. Traders can buy contracts if they believe the team will score over the implied total, or sell contracts if they believe the team will score under. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. As more traders participate, the price converges towards a consensus expectation.
This market resolves around Nov 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final team totals from the Appalachian State vs. Georgia Southern game are verifiable from credible public reporting. The market will settle based on the official statistics released by the governing body of college football, determining whether the actual team totals exceed or fall short of the contract values traded on Kalshi. Traders holding contracts on the correct outcome will receive a payout, while those holding contracts on the incorrect outcome will forfeit their investment.
Several factors could influence the price of contracts in this market leading up to Nov 1, 2026. News regarding key player injuries for either Appalachian State or Georgia Southern would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest adverse conditions, could also shift expectations about scoring. Additionally, any late-breaking news about team strategies or coaching decisions could cause traders to reassess their predictions, leading to increased volume and price fluctuations in this market.
