Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often include a 'vig' or commission, which skews the odds slightly against the bettor. This market, driven by the collective intelligence of traders on Polymarket, aims to represent the true probability of each outcome. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, prediction markets can rapidly adjust to new information and changing perceptions, potentially offering more accurate forecasts as the event approaches. It's common to see differences in implied probabilities between the two.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. As more shares are purchased for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. Conversely, selling shares drives the price down. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date collective forecast.
This market resolves around Oct 12, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The platform will verify the result against publicly available information to determine the winning competitor. Traders who correctly predicted the outcome will be entitled to a payout based on the final share price at the time of resolution, while those who predicted incorrectly will forfeit their shares.
