Prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market relies on the collective predictions of informed traders. As a result, you may find that the implied probabilities in this market differ from those offered by sportsbooks, especially as new information emerges. It’s common to see prediction markets move faster to incorporate news or insights that haven't yet been fully priced into sportsbook lines.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and the probability implied by the price rises accordingly. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price reflects the aggregated sentiment of all participants, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the event’s likelihood.
