Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market allows traders to freely adjust probabilities based on their own analysis and information. If there's a significant discrepancy, it may indicate that the market believes a sportsbook has mispriced a particular outcome. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities of the same event occurring, and discrepancies can arise due to differing opinions and information available to each group.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous exchange where traders buy and sell shares representing different exact scores. The price of each share reflects the market’s collective belief about the probability of that score occurring. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect new information and changing sentiment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s depth and volume indicate the level of confidence traders have in each possible outcome, offering insights beyond simple win probabilities.
