This set of markets tracks how many points each team scores in an upcoming college football game. Each market has a different threshold for the points scored, allowing participants to bet on various scoring outcomes for both teams.
All markets resolve based on the official final point totals for Alabama and Mississippi State in their college football game scheduled for October 3, 2026. For each market, if the specified team scores over the designated point threshold, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of the scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants under unforeseen circumstances.
Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbook odds are typically set by a small team of experts, while this market aggregates opinions from many individuals. It’s common to see discrepancies between the two, especially before significant events or when new information emerges. However, as the event approaches, the odds on Kalshi and sportsbook lines tend to converge, as both attempt to accurately predict the final outcome of the Alabama-Mississippi State game.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about the team totals. The price of a contract indicates the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy contracts for a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing mechanism ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date information and collective intelligence of all participants. The current price represents the market’s expectation for the final team totals in the game.
This market resolves around Oct 3, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final team totals for both Alabama and Mississippi State will be sourced from official game statistics. The market will settle based on the actual combined points scored by each team during the game. Traders holding contracts corresponding to the correct team totals will receive a payout, while those holding contracts for incorrect totals will not. This ensures a transparent and objective resolution process.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before Oct 3, 2026. Key injuries to star players on either Alabama or Mississippi State would likely cause significant shifts in the odds. Unexpected weather conditions, such as heavy rain or strong winds, could also impact the game and, consequently, the market. Major news regarding team strategies or coaching changes could also play a role. Even public sentiment, as reflected in media coverage and social media discussions, can contribute to price movements in this market.
