Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or risk appetites. It’s common to see prediction markets move independently of sportsbook lines, particularly as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts regarding the game's potential outcome.

On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of a contract reflects the market's assessment of the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect the evolving consensus. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movement is driven by supply and demand; if more people believe Alabama will win the 3rd quarter and buy 'Alabama wins' contracts, the price of those contracts will increase, and the price of contracts for other outcomes will decrease.

This market resolves around Oct 3, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome will be determined by which team is leading at the end of the 3rd quarter of the Alabama vs Mississippi State football game. Official game results from a trusted sports source will be used to verify the winner. The platform will then finalize the settlement of all outstanding contracts based on the verified result, paying out to those who correctly predicted the 3rd quarter winner.

Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Alabama or Mississippi State would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if severe weather is expected during the game, could also impact trading activity. Furthermore, updates on team strategies or coaching decisions, as well as any significant shifts in public sentiment—perhaps driven by pre-game analysis—could all contribute to price fluctuations in this market. Unexpected line movements in sportsbooks could also prompt traders to reassess their positions.
