Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially incorporating information not fully captured by traditional sportsbooks. While sportsbooks set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, this market allows anyone to trade on their beliefs, leading to odds that can diverge from those offered by sportsbooks. It’s common to see this market react quickly to breaking news or changes in perceived team strength, potentially offering different value than sportsbook lines. Examining both can provide a more comprehensive view.

Unexpected weather forecasts for the game day could also play a role, as could major upsets in other relevant college football games that impact team morale or rankings. Public sentiment, as reflected in media coverage and social media discussions, can also contribute to shifts in the market’s probabilities.
