These markets track how many points each team will score in an upcoming college football game. Outcomes depend on whether a team's final point total exceeds specific thresholds set for each market.
All markets resolve based on the official final point totals of Central Michigan and Akron in their college football game scheduled for October 3, 2026. For each market, if the specified team's score exceeds the stated threshold, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of its original start time, all markets remain open and resolve according to the final result. If the game does not start within this 48-hour window, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants regardless of the specific point threshold being wagered upon.
Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, while Kalshi allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the likelihood of different outcomes. This can lead to discrepancies, as the collective wisdom of the crowd on Kalshi may differ from the initial lines set by oddsmakers. It’s common to see this market adjust as new information becomes available, potentially offering insights beyond standard betting lines.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different team total point ranges. The price of each contract reflects the probability that the actual team totals will fall within that range, as determined by the collective actions of all traders. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe a particular outcome is likely, the higher the price of the corresponding contract will climb, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust expectations.
This market resolves around Oct 4, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final team totals from the Akron vs Central Michigan game will be used to determine which contracts pay out. Specifically, contracts corresponding to team total ranges that accurately reflect the actual combined scores will settle at 100, while those outside the range will settle to 0. The resolution will be based on official game statistics.
Several factors could influence the price movement of this market. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Akron or Central Michigan would likely cause significant shifts. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions favoring one team's offensive or defensive style, could also impact trading activity. Finally, even late-breaking news about team strategies or coaching decisions could lead to adjustments in the perceived probabilities and, therefore, the prices on Kalshi.
