Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can often differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to account for profit margins, while this market is driven purely by traders expressing their beliefs about the outcome. Often, you’ll find that prediction markets are more accurate than sportsbook lines, especially as the event draws closer and more information becomes available. It’s worth comparing the two to identify potential value or discrepancies in expectations.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the AHL hockey matchup. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a real-time probability assessment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe an outcome is likely, the higher the share price will climb, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing reflects the collective intelligence of the market participants.
