Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on team rankings and expert analysis, but may be influenced by factors like public betting biases. This market, however, allows traders to weigh various factors and express their beliefs directly through their trades. While sportsbooks may offer similar bets on the first team to score, the odds here are driven by the collective intelligence of those participating on Polymarket, potentially offering a different perspective on the likely outcome.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether AFC Ajax or AZ will score first. As more shares are purchased for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a 'yes' share (Ajax scores first) or a 'no' share (AZ scores first) represents the market’s assessment of that outcome’s likelihood. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date information and collective opinion of traders.

This market resolves around Oct 31, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on which team is officially recorded as scoring the first goal in the AFC Ajax versus AZ match. Official match data will be used to determine the winning outcome. The platform will verify the result against widely available and trusted sources to ensure accuracy and transparency in the resolution process.

Several signals could influence trading activity in this market. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either AFC Ajax or AZ would likely cause shifts in the odds. Tactical announcements from either manager, such as confirmed starting lineups or changes in formation, could also impact trader sentiment. Furthermore, real-time events during the match itself, like early scoring chances or red cards, would undoubtedly lead to significant price movements. Unexpected weather conditions or refereeing decisions could also play a role in how this market behaves leading up to resolution.
