Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective wisdom of traders, aims to reflect the true probabilities as perceived by the crowd. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, prediction markets can quickly adjust based on new information and changing sentiment. It's common to see discrepancies between the two, potentially offering opportunities for informed traders.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular second-half result. As more shares are purchased for a specific outcome, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. Conversely, selling shares drives the price down. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the aggregated predictions of all participants.

This market resolves around Oct 18, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the second half of the AD Municipal Pérez Zeledón versus CS Herediano match. The final score at the end of the second half will determine which outcome is declared the winner. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome will be paid out according to the final share price at resolution.

Several factors could influence the price of shares in this market. Any news regarding team injuries, suspensions, or changes in coaching staff could significantly shift expectations. Unexpected weather conditions on match day could also play a role, potentially favoring one team over another. Furthermore, in-game events during the first half, such as early goals or red cards, will likely cause rapid adjustments in the market price as traders react to the unfolding situation. General sentiment and public opinion surrounding the teams’ performance can also contribute to price movements.
