Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while this market aims to represent the true probability of each outcome as assessed by traders. If a significant discrepancy exists between the implied probability on Polymarket and sportsbook odds, it could indicate that the market believes the sportsbook is mispricing the event, or that there's information not yet fully reflected in either set of odds. It's a useful comparison point for informed decision-making.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in each exact scoreline. The price of each share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is solely determined by supply and demand within Polymarket, and is not influenced by external factors or other prediction venues.
