Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market aggregates the views of many individual traders. If a significant discrepancy exists, it might indicate that the market believes a sportsbook has mispriced a particular outcome. It’s common to see prediction markets move faster than sportsbooks to incorporate new information, especially regarding team news or injuries, as traders react quickly to developments.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different exact scores. The price of each share reflects the market’s collective belief about the probability of that score occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust accordingly, providing a dynamic assessment of the potential outcome. The total volume traded gives an indication of how much attention this particular match is receiving from the prediction market community.
