Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs, potentially leading to more accurate probabilities as new information emerges. Discrepancies can arise due to differing levels of information, biases, or simply the dynamics of how each venue operates. It’s common to see prediction markets converge towards the true outcome probability as the event approaches.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether AC Monza or Cagliari Calcio will score first in the first half. As more shares are purchased for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share represents the probability of that outcome occurring, and traders aim to profit by correctly predicting the result. The market’s price is entirely determined by supply and demand among traders on Polymarket.

This market resolves around Oct 19, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the outcome will be determined by which team scores the first goal during the first half of the AC Monza vs. Cagliari match. If no goal is scored in the first half, the market will resolve as 'No Goal'. The resolution will be based on official match data and will be publicly available following the completion of the first half of the game.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either AC Monza or Cagliari Calcio would likely have a significant impact. Changes in team form, tactical adjustments, or even weather conditions could also shift trader sentiment. Unexpected lineup announcements close to kickoff could also cause movement. Furthermore, major upsets in other matches involving these teams, or general shifts in public perception, could all contribute to price fluctuations in this market.
