Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while Polymarket allows traders to directly assess the probability of an outcome. This can lead to discrepancies, with this market potentially offering more favorable odds if there's strong disagreement between the crowd's assessment and the sportsbook's initial lines. However, as more information becomes available—such as team news or weather reports—both sets of odds tend to converge, reflecting the evolving understanding of the event's likely outcome.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe AC Goianiense will score first, the higher the price of shares representing that outcome will climb, and vice versa for América FC. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds constantly adapt to new information and changing sentiment among traders.

This market resolves around Oct 3, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team scores the first goal in the AC Goianiense vs. América FC match. If no goal is scored during regulation time, the market will resolve based on any goals scored during extra time or a penalty shootout, if applicable. The outcome will be determined by official match data and verified against credible public sources, ensuring a transparent and accurate resolution process.

Several factors could influence trading activity and shift the odds in this market. Key events include any news regarding injuries or suspensions to key players on either AC Goianiense or América FC. Changes in team form, tactical adjustments announced by the managers, or even weather conditions on match day could all impact trader sentiment. Unexpected lineup announcements shortly before kickoff are also likely to cause price fluctuations, as traders react to the perceived impact on each team's chances of scoring first in the match.
