Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Resolution will be determined by The Dog Stars' Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer score as of August 31, 2026 at 10:00 AM ET, assessed the Monday following the film's wide release. Each market corresponds to a specific score threshold: the score must exceed the stated threshold value to resolve as Yes. For example, a final score of 75 would resolve "Above 75" as No, since it does not exceed 75. The thresholds range from above 45 through above 90 in five-point increments, allowing traders to express granular predictions about the film's critical reception across the full spectrum of possible Tomatometer scores.
Traders on Polymarket currently price this market at 89.0%, suggesting strong confidence in a favorable critical score. Analyst forecasts, while not directly mirrored in these odds, often align closely with such sentiment, especially when pre-release buzz is high. The gap between market odds and traditional projections can shift sharply as reviews drop, making this market a live barometer of crowd-driven expectations.
On Kalshi, this market is priced slightly differently due to varying user bases and liquidity conditions. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. For instance, Polymarket currently favors Will "The Dog Stars" score at least 50 on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer? at 89.0%, while Kalshi leans toward The Dog Stars Rotten Tomatoes score? at 88.0%. These divergences often reflect regional trading patterns or differing risk appetites, creating a spread of 1.0 between the two venues.
This market resolves around Aug 31, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the film’s Tomatometer score is officially published and verifiable from credible public reporting. The final number determines whether contracts for specific score ranges are paid out, closing the market based on transparent, widely accepted data.
Key catalysts include early reviewer leaks, trailer reactions, and audience score trends on platforms like Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb. Major shifts can also occur after industry awards announcements or if significant controversy surrounds the film. As Aug 31, 2026 approaches, real-time sentiment on social media and press coverage will heavily influence where this market ultimately lands.
