This market will resolve to "Yes" if Hengam Island is no longer under Iranian control by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". "No longer under the control of Iran" means that Iran no longer exercises primary governmental or military control over Hengam Island, and another state, occupying force, or internationally backed authority has established control over the island. Temporary raids, isolated landings, special operations, bombardment, sabotage, naval presence offshore, or temporary disruption of Iranian activity will not qualify on their own. An announcement, threat, or claim that Iran has lost control will not qualify without actual control being established. If control changes pursuant to a negotiated settlement, ceasefire term, surrender, or transfer agreement, this will qualify only once actual control has been established on the island. If control over Hengam Island is contested, unclear, disputed, or not sufficiently established by the resolution date, this will not qualify, and the market will resolve to "No". The primary resolution source will be official statements from the relevant governments and militaries, along with a consensus of credible reporting.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional analyst forecasts because traders embed real-time information and personal conviction into their positions, whereas analysts typically publish periodic reports. This market aggregates the collective judgment of many participants with financial skin in the game, which can lead to faster price discovery than consensus estimates. Comparing this market's implied probability to published expert assessments on regional stability and Iranian geopolitical leverage can reveal where the crowd sees asymmetric risk that analysts may have underweighted or overlooked.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader positions into a continuous probability curve. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price you see reflects the ratio of yes-to-no shares, with each trade moving the odds incrementally. Higher trading volume typically narrows the spread between bid and ask, making it cheaper to enter or exit a position. As the resolution date approaches or major news breaks, the price can shift sharply as traders reassess the geopolitical outlook.
This market resolves around Sep 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution hinges on whether Hengam Island remains under Iranian control through that date or whether a change in sovereignty or effective control occurs. Traders should monitor official government statements, international news sources, and regional security developments as the deadline approaches to assess the likelihood of the outcome they have backed.
Major catalysts include escalating regional tensions, military posturing by rival powers, diplomatic negotiations, or formal territorial disputes involving the island. International sanctions, naval incidents, or shifts in U.S. or allied policy toward Iran could rapidly reprrice this market. Statements from Iranian officials, neighboring countries, or the United Nations may also trigger volatility. Traders should track Persian Gulf security news, energy geopolitics, and broader Iran-related developments, as any credible threat to Iranian sovereignty over the island would likely drive the odds sharply higher.
